Pfizer R&D Facility
Pfizer’s R&D facility is a 295,000 square foot research laboratory and pilot plant in Chesterfield, Missouri. The design utilizes Side Plate moment frame technology with a fully-bolted connection in the field.
The facility has flexible laboratory layouts and open floor plans (known as the Continuous Lab Concept) that encourages collaboration across functions and colleagues, including engineers, biologists, biochemists, analytical chemists, and pharmacy specialists.
The site houses Pfizer’s Biotherapeutics Pharmaceutical Sciences group, and enabling partners to advance Pfizer’s biologics, vaccines, and gene therapy portfolio. The Pilot Plant production facility creates the first run of products developed in the lab—most notably the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.
